Scripting the Storyworld Developing Characters in a Dramatic Story World
As writers, sometimes we can fall into the trap of letting our characters serve the story. They become mouth or chess pieces for a bigger setting or regime at the expense of their individual rich and dynamic stories. In this workshop, award-winning playwright/dramaturg and 2019 Burns Fellow Emily Duncan leads participants – and their characters – through an escape plan.
Scripting the Storyworld is most suitable for those who already have an idea for a stage play
or an early draft.
Duration: 2 hours
This public workshop will be occurring twice in 2019:
As part of the Dunedin Readers & Writers Festival, Thursday 9th May – information here
As part of the New Zealand Young Writers Festival, October 2019 – date TBC.
